Tea Party Support At Lowest Level

Posted by | October 26, 2015 10:00 | Filed under: Politics

Only 17% say they support the Tea Party, the lowest ever.

Americans’ support for the Tea Party has dropped to its lowest level since the movement emerged on the national political scene prior to the 2010 midterm elections. Seventeen percent of Americans now consider themselves Tea Party supporters, and a record 54% say they are neither supporters nor opponents.

This really makes no sense to me. Teabagger support is what has propped up Trump and Carson, with the latter getting some of the evangelical religious zealots also. Together they have almost 50% of the right wing voters which is incredibly frightening. Maybe someone can enlighten me?

    • arc99 October 26th, 2015 at 10:50

They are the GOP base who will decide the nominee. Trump and Carson are vying to have 100% of that 17% who support the TeaParty

      • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 10:54

Then how are they both in the twenty range in polling? They must have a lot more than the teatards if they are only 17% of those polled.

        • Larry Schmitt October 26th, 2015 at 10:55

A poll is not a vote or a primary or a caucus. Probably most of the respondents to the polls won’t even bother to vote.

          • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 10:57

I’m still finding this poll confounding as it relates to the GOP numbers.

            • Larry Schmitt October 26th, 2015 at 10:58

I try not to pay much attention to polls in the first place.

              • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 11:11

At this point, that is probably the best way to go. :)

            • arc99 October 26th, 2015 at 11:00

              You poll 100 people.

83 of them tell you the TP is full of sh*t. You do not poll them further.

You poll the remaining 17 and ask who they prefer for President.

5 say Trump which gives him 29% of the people polled.

              • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 11:13

                That makes more sense now.

figures don’t lie…but liars can figure

Also you have to remember that the pollsters do their polling on landline telephones, almost no young people have a landline, only a cell phone.

So really the only people they are polling are the oldsters who are more likely to be Fox viewers aka, the most misinformed people in America.

      • Larry Schmitt October 26th, 2015 at 10:54

They’re probably trying to get 200% of the 17%. That’s GOP logic.

        • rg9rts October 26th, 2015 at 11:26

Wait till the results come in from Ohio

        • CandideThirtythree October 26th, 2015 at 22:25

          Republican math

    • The Original Just Me October 26th, 2015 at 11:44

Both of them are pandering to the Far Right Frenzy, but if you look are the hard numbers, neither one of these people have a solid Republican support.

      • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 11:53

I hope that is true. I do think there are more than teatards supporting them now.

        • The Original Just Me October 26th, 2015 at 12:13

Think about it, what else have they got. This go round has the Republicans with nothing for a Realistic President Candidate.

          • mistlesuede October 26th, 2015 at 14:55

For certain. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so frightening.

    • CandideThirtythree October 26th, 2015 at 22:24

Republicans only make up 27% of registered voters and Trump and Carson each only have about 20% of that 27%….not really that many people in the grand scheme of things.

  2. William October 26th, 2015 at 10:46

Hard to believe, especially after that remarkable showing of right wing mental fortitude at the latest round of Benghazi hearings.

    • Larry Schmitt October 26th, 2015 at 10:52

      Bunch of morans.

      • William October 26th, 2015 at 10:54

Morans with a head full of conspiracy theories.

It’s only a stop light when it’s red. When it’s green it’s a go light.

Ya think the people realize just how anti american they really are ??

    • The Original Just Me October 26th, 2015 at 11:40

It is glaringly obvious that their roots go back to 1930s Germany’s NAZI Party.

  4. The Original Just Me October 26th, 2015 at 11:39

The only thing the Tea Party has, or ever has had, is LOUD Vocal supporters. This NOISE makes them sound Big but they have always been a very small part of our Political process. The active member numbers are going down as well as the number of people who fear or take them seriously. The number of people who are just ignoring or laughing at them is increasing. Even the main stream Republicans who once feared their vocal power are wising up to how little they matter anymore.

    • Larry Schmitt October 26th, 2015 at 11:54

      ACCENT ON THE LOUD!

  5. BillTheCat45 October 26th, 2015 at 12:29

True, but expect them to get louder and throw bigger tantrums as they see their candle being snuffed out.

  6. ExPFCWintergreen October 26th, 2015 at 14:58

    O no. Wut a pittee.

  7. amersham46 October 26th, 2015 at 20:00

Results would have been much high if the poll was taken in a Walmart parking lot ( like most Fox polls)

    • whatthe46 October 26th, 2015 at 20:08

      now that’s funny!

  8. Progressive Republican October 27th, 2015 at 16:33

That’s a long way from the lead-in headline that said ‘Americans Increasingly Hate The”Tea Party”.’
