Congressman Peter King has been one of the public officials most critical of Muslims. But even he knows the government can’t shut down places of worship.

Fox News host Martha McCallum played for King the clip of Trump saying he was “absolutely” open to the idea of shutting down mosques. “What do you think?” she asked.

“Donald Trump is talking before he knows what he’s talking about,” King said. “I have been critical of people in the Muslim community, but the fact is you can’t be shutting down mosques.”

      Thanks, Buford2k11, for pointing out the obvious. King has played an essential role in promoting Islamophobia and other crazy sh*t that has driven the GOP/TP farther to the right, so he shouldn’t be surprised at what his words/actions have wrought. When he was posturing before the cameras and peddling his special brand of BS, he wanted his party’s supporters to believe everything he was saying. Mission Accomplished. He’s indeed reaping what he sowed.

    Shut down mosques? Sure you can, as long as you also shut down a proportionately equal number of churches, synagogues and temples of every religion. No favoritism allowed. Then maybe we can start earning some property taxes from that land.
