Santorum: U.S. Must Fight Gay Marriage As World’s ‘Moral Leader’

Posted by | July 5, 2015 21:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

It’s a weighty responsibility being such a moral country as the United States. That’s why, Rick Santorum reasons, we must be at the forefront of the fight against gay marriage.

Appearing on CBS, Santorum was asked about a previous statement that the ruling “disrupts the foundation of the world”.

He said he was concerned with three things: the role of the court in society – a rallying call for 2016 candidates including Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal – an “assault on religious liberty” and “a further erosion of this founding building block of society, which is the nuclear family”.

“Over the last 40 years we’ve seen a degradation of the nuclear family, no doubt about it,” said the former Pennsylvania senator who is running for the White House for a second time, having finished second in the primaries in 2012. “But this further put the nail in the coffin.

“We now disconnect the nuclear family from the idea that it is there for the purpose of having and raising children … it’s [now] about adults.

“The United States is still the moral leader of the world. We’ve now disconnected marriages from having children and I think that has profound consequences not just for the United States but for the world.”

Marriage is about the adults, children are not necessary to be married. Heteros have a 52% divorce rate I seriously doubt GLBT are going to make it worse….unless

Your god is so weak he and xtians will crumble and divorce, fornicate, drink an duggar.

Frothy Santorum: U.S. Must Repeal the 10th & 14th Amendments to fight Equal Marriage conferring 2000+ federal benefits “equally” per conservative majority SCOTUS’ 2014 & 2015 decisions.

Faux cons single campaign issue, just cratered non-billionaire GOP donations.

So according to this bit of frothy leakage, only people who can reproduce should be allowed to be married. Women with hysterectomies, people past their reproductive age, you can’t get married. Who died and made this a$$hat god?

how about children (girls) who have been brutally raped to the point they can never have children? what about women or couples period, that just don’t want children? these people have absolutely no idea that what they spew is so damn stupid.

      • Larry Schmitt July 5th, 2015 at 21:45

That’s the problem with stupid people, they don’t know they’re stupid.

It’s their only saving grace. They give us plenty to laugh at.

The want and desire of these ” professional politicians ” to gain an office can be summed up in one word…..pathetic.

We already have to many people in this country as well as the world at large. With the climate changes that are coming along soon, it’s getting harder and harder to feed the 7+ Billion people.
Of course, I’m of the opinion that religions secretly WANT people to suffer, it’s good for the churches, the collection plate, and the authority they love to take advantage of.

Marriage has nothing to do with children…especially imaginary children that haven’t yet been born.
Countless millions have married and never procreated or adopted …does Frothy believe they were destroying the foundation of our society…??? If a couple can’t have children or adopt should they divorce…???

It’s getting harder to know which R is dumber than the next.

““The United States is still the moral leader of the world.”

Absolutely no evidence to support this. Much evidence to dispute it. We allowed slavery, we stole land from the indigenous peoples and wrote treaties (promises) that we had no intention of following and slaughtered them for resisting our “Manifest Destiny, we lied about attacks on our servicemen to justify military action (Gulf of Tonkin incident, anyone?) and we deposed governments and assassinated foreign leaders (and sometimes failed hilariously,) we gave massive doses of LSD to unsuspecting people, we diagnosed blacks with syphilis and didn’t inform them but rather simply ‘observed’ the progression of the disease… Yeah, we’re the moral leader in the same way that Jeb is the “good” Bush.

Ok, Ricky. What about climate change? You should be the leader of that movement, as the caretaker of the earth, right?
