Former RNC Chair To Republicans: Condemn Trump

Posted by | July 5, 2015 18:00 | Filed under: Politics

Michael Steele says, “People know when you’re full of BS.”

Steele criticized his replacement’s response to the Donald Trump fiasco on Meet the Press Sunday morning, telling current chair Reince Priebus that he had to forcefully condemn the celebrity plutocrat candidate or risk appearing disingenuous to voters.

“You’ve got to have that Sister Souljah moment with the party, where you have to be honest and call it what it is,” Steele said. “People are sophisticated enough to know when you’re just full of BS.”

“Everyone in the country reacted to this and you didn’t, the party didn’t, and those who want to be president didn’t — until what? This week? That’s a problem. It’s a problem of authenticity. It is a problem of legitimacy when you’re going to go speak to that community.”

Sorry Steele. Pragmatism and realism is not allowed in the current GOP.

Looks like Trump has bitten off more than the can chew. It’s a show, he knows he can’t win. He knows he will upset the apple cart. He knows how to get attention. He knows what to say to solicit what reaction. He thought, he could get momentum, publicity that would translate into making money. He thought that he could milk the gravy train for a short enough while to reap the benefits but back out with fan fare and look the victim hero of the neglected race pandering loving tea party birther racists. He thought that Latin American citizens are an easy disorganized apolitical target. He thought Latin American citizens are disaffected about racist remarks about Latin citizens from other countries. He thought that there are Americans in overwhelmingly numbers that are racist and would rally with him around racist comments of all Latins. He thought that Latins from whatever citizenry and where ever they live— didn’t have any muscle to flex that would affect him (he should have asked Lou Dobbs). He thought a draconian White Republican RICH male has the FREEDOM to be himself and ignore political correctness and that there would be no equally FREE consequences. He thought most Americans are Foxtards that react to fear mongering and hate. I bet he doesn’t think those things now.

you’re right on all of your points. but, i don’t think he really gives a sh!t. he’ll just play the victim and turn it back onto them somehow. watch and see.

He cares about one thing only– his $$$$$. It’s expensive to play presidential politics. He’ll play the victim alright, that was always part of his plan.

How do you explain him polling second amongst the GOP crowd? Trump does not have the self-awareness to realize how awful he is.

My explanation: the Republican electorate gets its marching orders from Fox News. And so far, except for outlier George Will, the “network” is standing behind this driver of the clown car.

I think you are right. It’s a ratings game. Foxtards are ginned up each month or so. They will have their flavors of the month just like in 2012 with each clown car candidate shooting to the top for that month, only to give rise to the next flavor of the month. Fox and the Koch have decided how and when to whittle down the candidates one by one and make it a ratings game. There’s money to be made. Kind of like an extended play off marketing game. All along knowing, like with Romney; the old guard choice of Bush was always going to be the anointed one.

Steele said. “People are sophisticated enough to know when you’re just full of BS.”

I appreciate your desire, Mr. Steele. But your GOP electorate has Trump polling second in the field across the country. How do you explain that?

Easily; public education has been nonexistent or worse for nearly the last 40 years, since California’s Prop 13 and its ilk announced that the rich weren’t going to pay taxes anymore. People have been “educated” primarily by corporatist media since then, with predictable (and predicted-at-the-time) results.

Trump represents todays republicans very well and the polls prove it.
He’s just saying it without the dog whistles.
