Phyllis Schafly Wants Congress To Assert The Dignity Of Straight People

Posted by | July 1, 2015 07:30 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

The Eagle Forum founder wants to affirm  the “dignity of opposite-sex married couples,” especially that of couples where “a provider-husband is the principal breadwinner and his wife is dedicated to the job of homemaker.”

A crash program to rebuild the traditional American nuclear family is urgently necessary for continuing our nation’s political and economic success in this century. This won’t happen if we transform marriage into a means of giving “dignity” to mostly childless homosexuals.

Once Congress is on a roll to confer dignity, it should confer an extra measure of dignity on the single-earner family, where a provider-husband is the principal breadwinner and his wife is dedicated to the job of homemaker, a role more socially beneficial than working in the paid labor force.

Yes, get those women back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, while the man goes out and has three-martini lunches and has an affair with his secretary. That’s the proper role of the American woman. She thinks she’s in an episode of Mad Men. Has she been drinking too much of her own beer again?

      Ask Perry

While the single provider man is out working three different jobs to support the family, who is doing the pregnant thing for him ?

      • Larry Schmitt July 1st, 2015 at 11:59

Since he’s playing footsie with his secretary, she’s getting special deliveries from the milk man.

Doesn’t the Mailman show up there every day too? And then there’s the monthly meter reader and the repair man. Awe, the Good Life of the imagination.

The Supreme Court actually did dignify straight marriage as well as gay marriage; simply put there is no straight marriage or gay marriage—there is now– only marriage and it is protected by the Constitution. What self righteousness fascist theocratic bent fake christian Phyllis Schafly wants is be afforded dignity and the constitutional right to DISCRIMINATE. Shcaffly wants to be considered dignified for her and her ilk to practice prejudice, and intolerance. Her genuine lack of dignity is not due to her Constitutional right to marriage; her lack of dignity is comes her inner hate of America’s Constitution and Democracy.

She’s trying to protect the ALIMONY LAWS.

    Just wants a straight insertion

    • The Original Just Me July 1st, 2015 at 11:46

With that scowl on her (?) face, I don’t think so.

Yeah Phyllis, that’d be great if families could go back to having a single income earner, while the other party had the opportunity to stay home and raise children, or whatever. I’m not going to say that said families need to be comprised of a man and a woman, or that the woman should be the one staying at home, because I’m just not at your level of homophobia or self-loathing sexism. There is a fundamental problem that must be addressed before any movement can be made toward your Leave It to Beaver, Ozzie and Harriet utopia: people that adhere to your ideology (conservatism) have done everything within their power in order to put the dream (?) of a single-income household out of reach of the majority of Americans.

    • Larry Schmitt July 1st, 2015 at 08:49

There’s something else those “Utopian” visions of America have in common: They’re all-white. Which I’m sure is just fine with Phyllis and her friends.

Ah, the glory of the Traditional Single-Breadwinner Male Homemaker-Female American Nuclear Family. Like Ozzie and Harriet! Like all those wonderful, wonderful families who made Levittown the American Dreamscape. Back in the Good Ol’ Days…. Wait, what? Weren’t those Good Ol’ Days the days of a vibrant and growing middle class thanks to high taxation on the wealthy, robust unions, industrial manufacturing, and low-cost university education? Yeah, thought so. So Phyllis has gone Eisenhower Age Commie Socialist, has she?

    • The Original Just Me July 1st, 2015 at 11:43

      Ironic isn’t it ?

  7. Suzanne McFly July 1st, 2015 at 09:25

Yeah, let me see if this would appeal to any woman who is under 95 years old. I am pretty sure this line of thinking wasn’t popular in the late 1800’s.

    • The Original Just Me July 1st, 2015 at 11:42

In the late 1800’s, marriage was a whole lot different than it is now days and no where near as popular. Today’s form of marriage came about with the Income Tax Law.

        Or…love, companionship, family, sex.

      • Dwendt44 July 1st, 2015 at 16:59

Republican policies enacted over the years makes it darn hard for a single income family to survive, much less prosper. A ‘middle class’ family, almost by definition, means two wage earners.

    • tracey marie July 1st, 2015 at 13:14

the duggars believe this, the teabaggers believe this…inother words the losers believe this way

Strong independent women are hard to control.

    Shoo-fly is mentally ill.
Oh, of course, she’s prehistoric… physically and mentally.

  10. The Original Just Me July 1st, 2015 at 11:39

Does her hair grow that way naturally ? Just wondering .

  11. anothertoothpick July 1st, 2015 at 13:09

I’ll have to mull that one over.

  12. Sally July 1st, 2015 at 13:27

Gosh, Phyllis, how many families do you know where the man has a job that will support a family on its own? Seriously, honey, your party has fought a working wage forever, now it’s dismantling the unions that built a middle class in America. Let us know when you wake up from your 1940’s dream.

  13. Bunya July 1st, 2015 at 14:56

Poor Phyllis. She’s obviously a self-hating woman who so wants to be a man.

    • allison1050 July 1st, 2015 at 16:31

She looked like a dude 25 years ago.

      • Bunya July 1st, 2015 at 16:38

Now that you mention it, she DOES look like a man. Maybe she’s another Ann Coulter, or a cross-dresser.

  14. bpollen July 1st, 2015 at 16:27

If Obama made such a statement about Phyllis, that would make TWO people who say she has dignity.

  15. allison1050 July 1st, 2015 at 16:30

I guess Phyllis still isn’t talking to her son.

  16. Dwendt44 July 1st, 2015 at 17:04

You notice how she exempts herself from the ‘little woman at home’ schtick.
