Santorum Advises Obama To Fight Gay Marriage ‘For The Survival Of The Country’

Posted by | June 28, 2015 22:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

The difference between Rick Santorum and Barack Obama is that the latter is president and the former will never be.

Santorum told the hosts of Fox & Friends that the U.S. Congress should pass laws to require Supreme Court justices to face elections and to force them to “take all appeals” because of their ruling that effectively legalized marriage for same-sex couples…

“The most important power that a president has — and obviously I’m running for president — the most important power the president has is the power of the bully pulpit,” Santorum opined. “Can you imagine if instead of if the president spent all his time talking about global warming, if he talked about the importance of marriage and fathers and mothers taking responsibility for raising this children in healthy homes?”

“And actually promoting marriage,” he continued. “And actually have programs that support the idea of marriage and togetherness in order to raise children.”

“That, to me, is the most important thing we can do as a society, is begin to lift up marriage as an institution that’s important for the survival of our country because too many children are falling through the cracks.”

Rick Santorum hates America, the Constitution and the founding fathers..
The US Supreme Court was set up the way it is to prevent religious radicals like Ricky Santorum from forcing his mythological beliefes on others…

And now his pouts and protestations are clear and evident..

He doesn’t like way our 3 equal branches of government were set up and wants to change one of the essential features..(vote for the SC?) just because his panties are in a wad over Obamacare and gays granted the right to get married…

It’s no wonder he will never be elected to anything he hasn’t already pulled off.

“”That, to me, is the most important thing we can do as a society, is begin to lift up marriage as an institution that’s important for the survival of our country because too many children are falling through the cracks.”” and that’s exactly what happened. gays and lesbians are allowed to be married and can now form an institution and raise their children in a loving home. next step. make it legal in every state that gays and lesbian married couples can adopt children.

I was going to make the same point. I can hardly stand to listen to him, but shouldn’t he at least listen to himself?

I’m not up on the current literature, but when I was in school 20 years ago all studies pointed to loving same sex relationships being the basis for a wonderful environment in which to raise children. And better then alot of other situations.

Ironic point of view from Rick “Sanctimony” Santorum, since it is climate change denial and not marriage equality that runs the greatest risk of creating “Hell on earth”.

  5. Obewon June 28th, 2015 at 23:07

Nothing fails like the decades of Frothy Santorum’s homophobe prayers. SCOTUS “effectively legalized marriage for same-sex couples…” Ricky still clings to preying for repeal of the 10th & 14th “unconstitutional” Amendments.

Well actually Santorum, for once, is correct in that the court upheld the legal right of homosexuals to be married…to have the legal RIGHT to marriage as quite distinct from the religious RITE of marriage which is factually unaffected by the decision. If you read the fulminations on the conservative websites you will see they are always raving at how the churches will be compelled to have gay marriages, clergyman compelled to officiate, etc. While I have countered those absurd assertions it doesn’t do any good….you can not reason with fanatics. The readers of this website who are at least SANE people can, usually at least, be reasoned with.

    Obama:
“Rick, I have to go get a pencil to write this down. You wait right here until I come back…”

    • The Original Just Me June 29th, 2015 at 00:50

Did you have to go cut a tree down to make the pencil ?

      • bpollen June 29th, 2015 at 01:16

And it takes a while to grow the tree too..

        • Larry Schmitt June 29th, 2015 at 04:41

And the tree was in Greenland.

Yes, and finding Good Quality Sequoia seed stock is hard to find.

If only I could spell Sickwoya…

            • The Original Just Me June 29th, 2015 at 06:01

Don’t despair, it takes 2,000 to 3,000 years to grow one so you have a little time to learn how to spell it.

              It’s easy!

              S-o-k…no, wait.

  7. The Original Just Me June 29th, 2015 at 00:49

Boy, that was a lot of words, Did he say anything ? Did I miss something ? All I heard was a lot more Gibberish.

    • Hirightnow June 29th, 2015 at 08:14

Are you old enough to remember that loud hum when you plugged in a speaker to a stereo, and the plug wasn’t quite all the way in?
Semantically, it was the same thing.

  8. fahvel June 29th, 2015 at 01:22

it’s important for rabbits – not declining homo erectus.

  9. Talkin_Truth June 29th, 2015 at 01:32

Mark my words — the next time a super-storm hits America, these homophobes will blame the gays, not global warming.

  10. William June 29th, 2015 at 01:44

“lift up marriage as an institution that’s important for the survival of our country because too many children are falling through the cracks.”
Sometimes the jokes just write themselves.

  11. jybarz June 29th, 2015 at 06:01

+++ “Can you imagine if instead of if the president spent all his time talking about global warming…” +++

He prefers to ignore the real global calamity threat over his pet hate against the LGBT.
What a crappy kind of christian this guy is.
The Pope is very concerned about global warming and also welcoming of the LGBT.
So, Sanctimonious Santorum is wrong twice bloody big time!
    He should just STFU!

  12. Anomaly 100 June 29th, 2015 at 08:42

The gays are comin’! The gays are comin’! Lock your doors and stuff.

    • Greebo June 29th, 2015 at 12:08

The birds are already flying on their backs so they don’t have to witness the misery.

  13. Budda June 29th, 2015 at 11:26

Rick advised Obama? Yeah right. I don’t think the President takes his calls

  14. Bunya June 29th, 2015 at 14:14

I think Santorum is actually FOR gay marriage. He just has to step in every once in awhile and talk about the evils of gay marriage before he goes to meet Barry at their little hideaway in the woods.

  15. Glaisne June 30th, 2015 at 11:30

Survival of the country isn’t threatened by gay marriage, it’s threatened by religious, conservative assholes like you Rick.
