Former Prosecutor: No One Died Trying to Rescue Bergdahl

Posted by | April 6, 2015 20:30 | Filed under: Radio Interviews Top Stories War & Peace

Former federal prosecutor John Flannery, a former special counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, says Bowe Bergdahl should never have been charged.

Flannery also revealed Bergdahl’s best defense:  “The army feels like they have to cover their own behind for allowing a man who wasn’t up to a combat position and waving the requirements when the Coast Guard said that he wasn’t up to it. I think the best thing that happened to Sgt. Bergdahl is that he has that record to show he never should have been in Afghanistan but we needed troops and put him there,” Flannery explained.

A Reuters investigation revealed that the six soldiers who it is claimed died searching for Bowe Bergdahl actually lost their lives on other missions.

…a Reuters reconstruction of his disappearance indicates that at the time when Bergdahl’s six comrades in the 1st Battalion of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment were killed in August and September 2009, his fallen comrades were on other missions like securing the Afghan elections and, according to one U.S. military official, the period of intensive ground searches had already ended.

But several soldiers in his unit say the quest to locate him never really ended, and that it was an element of every mission they undertook, prompting some to blame the deaths on him.

Repukes would like to hang him as soon as yesterday because President Obama helped his release from the Talibans and for many other bullsh!t reasons that only repukes can make.
Good luck to him. Hope he’ll be found not guilty.

  2. Bunya April 6th, 2015 at 21:18

First of all, if nobody died trying to save Bergdahl, this case should be thrown out of court. I can’t understand why the military is hell bent on sending this guy to prison? What good does it serve, and who benefits?

    • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 16:30

Ummmm Because desertion is a crime as is UA and article 131..

      • Bunya April 8th, 2015 at 16:47

Ummmmm, do you have proof that he’s a deserter? If so, post it so everyone can see.

        • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 17:05

So? Where’s your proof? Opinions from right wing sights does not constitute proof.
            .
Boy, I’ll bet you’re just hoping an innocent man gets executed. You’re sick.

            • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 17:20

I dont know what the right wing thinks and I dont care what they think.. He left his post during a war.. He should be executed.. Please explain how he is innocent.. Let me guess.. The 17 eyewitnesses, the captors that found him and the Kushna he was looking for all lied, right ?

              • Bunya April 8th, 2015 at 17:35

“He left his post during a war.”
                So? Where’s your proof?
                .
                “He should be executed.”
Why? Has he been convicted of anything?
                .
                “Please explain how he’s innocent.”
                Please explain how he’s guilty?
                .
“…and the Kushna he was looking for all lied, right?”
Maybe. Heresay does not constitute guilt.

The same eyewitnesses that will be testifying infront of the Judge UCMJ https://youtu.be/iHZ9xsgpQ3I

Where’s your proof that they judge will believe their testimony?

                • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 17:41

BTW FOX water boarded these eye witnesses to ensure they would lie for the interview

“FOX water boarded these eye witnesses…”
                    Where’s your proof?

[sigh] looks like another failure of the public school system to adequately teach the most basic fundamentals of the American justice system.*
In the American system of justice, the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove guilt. The one accused is not required to prove their innocence.
When you hear the bell, go to Geography.

                * Another possibility would be rocker was taught, but failed to learn.

                • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 20:35

Well burga Let me fill you in on a little secret I learned in college and the military.. An active duty service person isnt tried by the American Justice system they are tried under the UCMJ.. When you hear the bell its in your head..

Ding bat.. Ding Ding Ding.. Class is over now your assignment is to Google UCMJ so you will see the drastic differences between the “American Justice” system and the UCMJ.. Thats the Uniform Code of Military Justice, aka UCMJ

Please quote the part that says an allegation is all that is needed to convict and the accused is guilty until he or she proves his or her innocence.
It is up to you to make your case and not for me to look stuff up for you.

                    • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 21:27

They already have 17 EYEwitnesses 4 commanders one of which he confessed he was going to go UA(unauthorised absence) and his squad leader who warned him not to desert… Bowe is a deserter and in a military court he is going to fry.. Obama may step in due to the trade for the 5 red beards he released.. American JUstice has nothing to do with the UCMJ, nothing.. The evidence is overwhelming. His lawyer is already trying to plea.. Not gone plea. The Judge advocate General is not going put up with BS politics and fry this POS

                    • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 21:31

To add to my last point, when I was in college, getting someone else to do your work was considered a form of cheating.

                    • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 21:42

Stop being silly.. An hour ago you didnt even know it was the UCMJ tring him… The defense doesn’t even have one witness. Well they do have a Dr to testify he is a little light in the head.. He is 110% guilty. He will see the JAG and then POOF gone.. LOL Even the red beards are testifying

Three of those are not legitimate news sites.

Of course not.. They dont support your opinion..

              • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 17:44

I think most people looking for an unbiased source would not go to one of those sites.

Here now lets hear how FOX forced his platoon members to lie by breaking their arms before the interview..

Covered in the Newsweek article linked to in the OP:

“… when Bergdahl’s six comrades in the 1st Battalion of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment were killed in August and September 2009, his fallen comrades were on other missions like securing the Afghan elections and, according to one U.S. military official, the period of intensive ground searches had already ended.

But several soldiers in his unit say the quest to locate him never really ended, and that it was an element of every mission they undertook, prompting some to blame the deaths on him.”

            • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 20:38

Whats this have to do with Bowe deserting ? This article refers to the search for him not his deserting his post.. ADD ?

              • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 21:19

My mistake. I thought you were replying to the OP when, in fact, you were replying to Bunya’s point about deserting.
Kinda wacky that in our military today that 17 military personnel would watch a man walk off his post and just sit there and not do anything about it.

Or maybe they weren’t “eyewitnesses” after all?

                • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 21:28

Nah its cool.. I picked up on it

As the saying goes: A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on

The conservative media quickly put the lie out there. The mainstream media report it as news.

And when the truth finally comes out, nobody is paying attention.

  4. tracey marie April 6th, 2015 at 22:24

so the cons lied with the help of the spawn of teababblers in the military

    • arc99 April 6th, 2015 at 23:14

      Of course they lied.

When do they ever tell the truth?

      • tracey marie April 6th, 2015 at 23:20

Not very often, when they do they expect a parade

  5. fahvel April 7th, 2015 at 03:34

50 thousand + dead and hardly any of them wanted to go to Vietnam. every peacenik from back then and every deserter should be hunted down and dragged through the mud – bad humour, I know but a country that has been at war non stop since eradicating the red skin problem is ok to judge morality. Crap!!!!!

  6. rg9rts April 7th, 2015 at 07:00

Thats not the way the gopee will remember it..

  7. Jimmy Fleck April 7th, 2015 at 15:01

Does another soldier have to be killed in order for someone to be charged with desertion?
