Charles Barkley: Christians ‘Don’t Like Gay People’

Posted by | April 4, 2015 12:00 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Former basketball star Charles Barkley is as outspoken as ever.

“America’s always had a racial problem,” Barkley told CNN’s Chris Cuomo late Thursday evening.

“Now we have a homophobic problem,” he continued. “Any form of discrimination, you have to check it.”

Barkley added that Indiana’s latest legislation deliberately targeted people based on their sexual orientation. The retired basketball star, now an analyst on the TNT network, said that discussions about lost religious liberties were thus a false flag.

“Gay people didn’t go after Christians,” he argued. “They came after gay people. Let’s get that straight.”

“It’s strictly about discrimination,” Barkley claimed. “They just don’t like gay people. I wish they would just say that.”

Christians who oppress others “always hide behind the Bible,” concluded Barkley.

    He’s 100% correct.

It won’t last long, he will say something stupid again pretty soon, I am sure of it.

I was thinking the same thing. But on this, I agree with him.

“I was a Republican until they lost their minds,” Barkley said.

I’d same “some” maybe even “most” but not all. There are some who have managed to live their lives with inclusiveness, just not enough. Seems to me the problem is that religion burdens you with too much irrational dogma.

Religions fall back on ‘tradition’ (theirs) and that’s the way ‘god wants it’, to establish a fixed base for their beliefs. Facts, reality, and scientific discovery can’t dent the armor plate.

Gays are just the latest gopee boogie man…women, poor, educated, uneducated, poor, minorities, non christians…christians of the wrong sect…etc. all have had their turn in the gopee hate spotlight..

Some bigots use the religion as a justification, but not all christians are bigots.
There are liberal christian churches that perform gay marriage, and even some with gay pastors. There are a lot of christians that are democrats that support LGBT rights.
Homophobia is more of a GOP/christian thing.
