Since before Obama was elected the first time, I have been getting e-mails proclaiming “Obama is coming for your guns!” At least 15 of them a week for over 6 years and I still have my guns.
I guess that executive order to pick up all the guns got lost at the FEMA camp. LOL!

My son’s last girlfriend had a mother just like that woman and while I have never interfered in any of my children’s relationships, I was secretly happy when he broke up with her.
His girlfriend did not share her mother’s right wing views but she did seem to expect conspiracies of some sort as her first impression of many situations.
She usually disabused herself of the bizarre notions right away but you could tell that she was struggling.
One day, when she was speculating why her father was not on time to pick her up from work I told her, “Sometimes a flat tire is just a flat tire”
She looked shocked and I felt bad but it did make me think about how hard it must be for people to ‘deprogram’ themselves after years of being exposed to rightwing nutjobery.
I didn’t have any problems growing up in the nutjobery, I never paid any attention to my parents anyway.
