Gay Group Gets VIP Vatican Treatment

More evidence that this pope walks the walk.

A prominent American Catholic gay rights group was given VIP treatment for the first time at an audience with Pope Francis on Wednesday, a move members saw as a sign of change in the Roman Catholic Church.

“This is a sign of movement that’s due to the Francis effect,” said Sister Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, which ministers to homosexual Catholics and promotes gay rights in the 1.2 billion-member Church.

Gramick and executive director Francis DeBernardo led a pilgrimage of 50 homosexual Catholics to the audience in St. Peter’s Square.

They told Reuters in an interview afterwards that when the group came to Rome on Catholic pilgrimages during the papacies of Francis’s predecessors John Paul and Benedict, “they just ignored us”.

They went into a general audience that the Holy Father routinely gives to Catholic groups visiting the Vatican. And I am sure if they wanted to confess their sins to him the Holy Father would hear their confessions and say to them what Jesus said: “Your sins are forgiven, now go and sin no more”.

This Pope, unlike the old Roman guard is the only Pontif to officially meet LGBT groups. Thankfully the Francis effect bears fruit! Said Sister Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, which ministers to homosexual Catholics and promotes gay rights in the 1.2 billion-member Church.

When the group came to Rome on Catholic pilgrimages during the papacies of Francis’s predecessors John Paul & (Nazi pope) Benedict, “they just ignored us”.

Oh really? You mean Jesus condoned adultery, fornication, and sodomy? Wow, that’s not what I get from reading his words. He was against sin and wanted us to refrain from it as it damages the spirit.

It is “The papal molesters (who) sin.” You’re lack of comprehension is only buoyed by your *dishonesty. Jesus never said anything about LGBT. Bearing false witness (Tarter’s dishonesty) is a sin

Keep trying to kid yourself. I know, the truth hurts.

Homophobic men were the most sexually aroused by gay male sex acts. Comeout, comeout wherever you are John Tarter. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-big-questions/201106/homophobic-men-most-aroused-gay-male-porn

Its a general principle — people usually don’t get all hot and lathered about things that don’t directly affect them.

I was raised in a church by a pastor who preached against the gays but I never could get very worried about it. I didn’t know any gays (not, true, I later learned) and just couldn’t bring myself to care about the issue.

So, I still wonder why people do.

          >> Oh really? You mean Jesus condoned adultery, fornication, and sodomy?

          Well, not sodomy.

We have just four teachings by Jesus regarding sex: one was about lust; one was against divorce; one was to the Samaritan woman at the well; and one was about the woman to be stoned for adultery.

          That’s it!

Yet, we obsess on the subject as a church.

        >> Jesus never said the 30%+ who are LGBT are sinners.

        30 percent? Really?

        • Obewon February 19th, 2015 at 08:31

One in 6 are gay plus the 2/3 of women who are samesex attracted.

I’ve never heard it estimated that high.

I have a hard time getting my mind around the idea 66% of women might be gay.

Tarter’s *dishonesty ‘bearing false witness’ is sin per your own Pope! “now go and sin no more” or burn in Hell like John Tarter feigning a BJ & cunilingus (sodomy) are sins! “OMFG!”-Cheney!

Nothing about homosexuality. Nothing about abortion. Nothing about birth control. Nothing about interracial marriage. Nothing about celibate clergy. Nothing about “legal” marriage.

He certainly walks the walk, this Pope. Now will this shut up those who are babbling on that he doesn’t like gays?

    • Ronald L February 19th, 2015 at 00:39

I can’t imagine the Vatican insider politics that the pope faces.

So, I’ll be happy if the Pope throws us anything.

    • John Tarter February 19th, 2015 at 06:09

He is commanded by Jesus to love everyone, but there is one thing I can assure you the Pope does not like – and that is sin.

      • Ronald L February 19th, 2015 at 09:07

But do you think the Vatican will allow the Pope to state the obvious — being gay is not sin?

      • cecilia February 19th, 2015 at 12:41

being a bigot is a sin
