With the apparent corruption of the leadership in Nigeria, it doesn’t look good for a satisfactory outcome for the citizens. Correct me if this wrong.

Big oil ain’t been any help either…there are numerous instances of big oil bribing government officials in Nigeria.

It seems to me like a cake is baking, and everyone is standing around watching it cook. Once Boko Haram decimates the government and the people, then the world will show up “to save them”. War will be staged, and a new government will be setup with an occupying police force. I hope not, but that seems to be the pattern.

It’s a muslim christian thing…the north is muslim…the power of the government is in the christian south. BH operates in the north. The world response is like Rwanda ….Oh how could this happen??”

That is the critical factor. It is also the thread that has doomed our good intentions in country after country, going back to Vietnam. Same with Iraq and Afghanistan. we support these corrupt regimes the people don’t support.

Nigeria’s government is a joke. Their president ‘Goodluck’ Jonathan seems totally incompetent and his wife seems more concerned with keeping up her fashionable image than doing anything worthwhile. A couple of bozos.

Nothing secret about it…Watched it on BBC…It was ignored probably because it was a “Black” issue…Can you imagine the world response if 200+ white girls were kidnapped to be sold off into marriage and slavery???

    • Suzanne McFly January 17th, 2015 at 09:21

And now the girls are used as suicide bombers.

10- year olds aren’t of much use to them yet.

How sick is that? Hell for them can’t come soon enough.

Oh, I don’t know. The prophet Mohammed found good use for a 9 year old.

    • burqa January 17th, 2015 at 09:31

Yeah, I’ve been following developments there for years. Unfortunately, a lot of it is in little news feature roundups in the newspapers. I gotta think it’s not easy to report.
I don’t see a U.S. strategic interest there. Boko haram is evil as can be, but they are concerned with local affairs.

Do 2000 black lives matter as much as a dozen white cartoonist?

    • burqa January 17th, 2015 at 10:01

We have a strategic interest in supporting our oldest ally with whom we have many ties. French intelligence has helped us a great deal in North Africa all the way over to Lebanon and into Syria, probably. They have assets we don’t.
What is our strategic interest in Nigeria?

      • Apocalypse January 17th, 2015 at 12:05

        Nice conservative attitude toward humanity…

        • Bunya January 17th, 2015 at 15:24

Our conservative posters here lean toward a more “what can you do for me?” attitude. They like to save their humanitarian services for a good photo op.

Boko Haram is so evil, they make Republicans almost look sane in comparison.
