Selena Gomez Offends Muslims After Showing Ankle In Abu Dhabi Mosque

It helps to understand other cultures, especially if you’re a celebrity showing yourself in other countries.

While visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, Gomez, wearing what appears to be an abaya, took a photo of her showing off some sexy leg inside the mosque, which, according to mosque officials, is forbidden. The second photo shows Gomez and a bunch of other young celebrities, including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Cody Simpson, laughing and smiling. That is also forbidden.

Gossip Cop reports that officials deemed the decorum “disrespectful”, pointing to rules that forbid “displays of interpersonal affection…exposing skin and openly laughing.”

I believe the expression is “The ugly American.”
I’ve seen it so many times I avoid them in other countries unless I see one on a street corner holding a map upside down trying to figure out where the hell they are.

Oh please. I’ve encountered plenty of ugly Brits, and don’t even get me started on Chinese tourists.

    This is totally disrespectful.
Don’t get me wrong, I see all religions as superstitious nonsense based on fear, power, control of people and money. That’s why they should not be displayed in public spaces or have any effect on our self governance and personal lives.
But when you as an individual go into any religious sects’ place of worship, you need to respect the followers of that religion and not be an dickhead.

How about not gracing a country that treats women so abominably with your presence at all? That, I think, would have been the best thing to do.

Ignorant, rude and embarrassing young Americans. They showed no respect for a country and a culture/religion they chose to visit.
