Armed Militia Group To Confront African-American Democrats At Polling Places In Wisconsin

Posted by | September 20, 2014 19:35 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

A self-described armed militia group in Wisconsin plans to target African American Democrats and responded to the controversy in the typical way: You’re a racist if you call out racism.  “We prefer our people be armed,” Wisconsin Poll Watcher Militia’s Facebook page reads. “Some will be heading to some of Milwaukee, Racine, and Beloit’s worst areas. We will be armed with a list of people to look for at each location.”

The dialogue was tagged on Twitter, then posted on PoliticusUSA.

A photo in the group’s Facebook page shows exactly the type of areas they will be targeting.

Patrick Murray specifically says his group won’t be targeting Republicans. Only Democrats.

The group responded on Facebook saying, “We can assure you that we will be targeting all democrats, not just black ones. If you think we meant blacks only it is because you are a racist who thinks the only people with warrants are black. We know better because we have a nice list of people who are wanted democrat activist types. Most are actually white. We will target everyone.”

In the same breath that he said he’ll target “everyone” he said only Democrats.

PoliticusUSA reports:

The fact that they are targeting a specific group of individuals based on race and perceived political affiliation means that their operation is a violation of the Voting Rights Act. According to the Justice Department, “The administration of elections is chiefly a function of state government. However, federal authorities may become involved where there are possible violations of federal law. In cases where intimidation, coercion, or threats are made or attempts to intimidate, threaten or coerce are made to any person for voting or attempting to vote, the Department of Justice can consider whether there is federal jurisdiction to bring civil claims or criminal charges under federal law. Depending on the nature of the allegations, they may fall into the jurisdiction of different parts of the Department. If you have information about allegations of intimidation, please contact us.”

These are Scott Walker’s supporters. How terribly embarrassing.

Contact the Department of Justice here. Because someone has to be watching this armed militia while they intimidate voters. November 4th is right around the corner. Don’t be intimidated.

I would assume that interfering with an election in a so called democracy is a class A felony and everyone of the jerks who show up should go to the happy butt farm for a year or so.

    That
would probably be illegal since campaigning within X number of yards
of a polling place is illegal and what they are doing is singling out
individuals for political gain, then they should be warned, then if that
doesn’t work, thrown in jail. ~~~~~~~~~~ works for me.

What I would love to see happen is for every black person in both those areas to show up with their guns.

    • Naithom September 21st, 2014 at 12:10

NO! Better that they show up with smart phones – take pictures of these folks with guns trying to intimidate voters then call the police and state and federal elections boards and report them. Voter Intimidation is a felony which will get you a year in jail, a fine and loss of your gun rights.

I don’t care what color the voters are, showing up at any polling place with guns is intimidation and I do hope the voters can ignore them. Frankly, as a Democrat this type of stupidity would make me more apt to show up to vote than not. Although I plan to vote if I have to crawl the entire 2 miles to the polling place. This makes me so angry, I hope that no one is injured by these stupid gun toting a**holes.

    • Naithom September 21st, 2014 at 12:08

Don’t ignore them, report them. Voter intimidation is a felony and will get you one year in jail and a fine.

And keep in mind that once they are convicted of a felony, in the state of Wisconsin, they then lose their gun rights.

      • katie1111 September 21st, 2014 at 13:06

I really doubt that most places would consider it intimidation, but you are right after they ignore them and vote, they should report it. The reason I said ignore them is this is an obvious attempt to scare people away from the polls. It would not scare me away but I am sure it would scare some people.Open carry is not illegal there and as long as they are acting as if they are peacefully protesting, they are surely within their rights to be there.

The law that they would be breaking is Intimidation of Voters, 18 U.S.C. § 594 which makes it illegal to use intimidation, threats, or coercion, or attempt to use any of these means, to interfere with the right of another to vote or vote as the individual chooses, or to cause the individual to vote or not vote for any particular candidate for federal office.

What needs to be done is have the DA’s in the area notify the police to be on the lookout for any of these domestic terrorists ( take down the names of the ones who have identified themselves on FB) and notify county Dems that anyone seeing a civilian carrying a firearm near a voting station needs to be turned in for breaking the law.

when u mention intimidation, do you mean similar to the clubs the new black panthers used 5 years ago??

      • CandideThirtythree September 21st, 2014 at 19:42

You still telling the same old lies? It was ONE guy and he was not intimidating anyone, it has been to trial so stop lying or can’t you help being a racist POS?

        • GeorgeW148 September 22nd, 2014 at 08:00

Candide, the only lies is the one you just wrote. The case was dropped only because of the DOJ’s reluctance to pursue cases against African Americans. Emails found under the FOIA shows political appointees were directly involved in the decision not to prosecute. In addition, the Civil Rights Commission concluded in their report that numerous civil rights violations occurred, provided the report to the DOJ, who still refused to do anything with it.

Two separate attorneys who worked at the DOJ, J. Christian Adams and Christopher Coates both resigned their positions after being ordered not to pursue cases against minorities, regardless of the facts of the case.

Keep drinking the cool-aid, I’m sure it tastes real good.

            Liar
            and
            racist

You are a piece of work.

            • GeorgeW148 September 22nd, 2014 at 16:40

Typical liberal response. There was nothing racist at all in my posting, but because it disagrees with your point of view, you call names. Nor am I a liar. Every bit of information I posted, I took from research on the incident from the web.

But, continue to deflect and attack when your point of view is not enough to win a debate.

Your assessment of it being 1 guy and he was not intimidating is not even close to accurate, but if you would quit watching msnbc long enough to do your own research, you would find yourself just a bit more educated on this and other topics.

              • CandideThirtythree September 22nd, 2014 at 17:21

You claimed that African Americans are not prosecuted because they are black when everyone knows that is lie, black people are arrested and prosecuted more than white people for the same offenses. You think we are stupid enough to believe that there are no black people in jail?

So that makes you a racist and a liar.

And using sources like the KKK websites and Stormfront and other white supremacist websites as proof of anything also makes you a liar and a racist.

So that also makes you a racist and a liar… I would have said a lying racist but that would be redundant.

                • GeorgeW148 September 22nd, 2014 at 17:52

I never said African Americans are not in jail, I said the DOJ was accused, by two separate DOJ attorneys of refusing to prosecute African Americans for civil rights voting violations. I also never made any mention about who is prosecuted more, whites or blacks. So how can I be lying about a statement I never made?

As far as which website I got my information from, its called wikipedia. Yeah, I know, not the most accurate website in the world, but definitely not the websites you mentioned.

But…..you keep feeling the need to call names and deflect. Have you considered anger management therapy. You seem to have a bit of hostility in your posts. I highly recommend it.

                  • CandideThirtythree September 22nd, 2014 at 20:46

We know those dog whistle codes, you are not fooling anyone except yourself if you don’t think we all see right through your flimsy cover. you are a racist and a liar and you are spreading rwnj propaganda.

                    • GeorgeW148 September 22nd, 2014 at 21:44

Again, you bring no argument to the debate, just vile name calling. There has been nothing even remotely said by me that could be even closely construed as racist. Someone mentioned the incident with the NBPP in context of voter intimidation. You countered that point with:

You still telling the same old lies? It was ONE guy and he was not
intimidating anyone, it has been to trial so stop lying or can’t you
                      help being a racist POS?

To which I argued back that it had not been to trial as you say because the DOJ refuses to prosecute minorities for voter intimidation or civil rights violations. I named lawyers at the DOJ who have resigned because if it, and sited unbiased websites that have documented the story.

You countered with even less facts and more names. Perhaps it is you who is not fooling anyone on this website as to a flimsy cover. I never once brought up fox news, or Stormfront, or any KKK websites. But, please, continue to make your case on how I (someone you have never met) am a racist, and I am a liar (though you have not offered a single bit of data to prove I lied about anything, despite my providing nothing but solid data to prove I’m not. Please…..continue to call names and deflect….its all you have at this point.

“In the first week of January, the Justice Department filed a civil
lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party and three of its members”

“Abigail Thernstrom, a commission member and a senior fellow at the
conservative Manhattan Institute, called it “small potatoes” and said
conservatives should pursue more important issues against the Obama
administration. The case, she pointed out, invokes a narrow and rarely
used provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which has been used
successfully to prosecute only three times since its passage.

“If you want to criticize [Attorney General] Eric Holder, there are lots of grounds on which to criticize him,” she said. “Why waste your breath on this one?”

Thernstrom said that she did not find Adams’s testimony convincing and
that the facts of the case raised doubts in her mind, noting that the
Black Panthers were standing in front of a majority-black precinct that had voted overwhelmingly for Democrats in previous elections — not a prime spot for intimidating white voters.”

It was all republican judges appointed by BUSH that dropped it, it was 2008, the first week of January when this started, before Obama even took office so he could not have appointed the judges you illiterate gint

The man and it was only one man, did go to trial, TWICE,the second time it sought only an injunction barring him from displaying a weapon
within 100 feet of a Philadelphia polling place for the next three
years—action that’s already illegal under existing law.

If you read anything beside white supremacists websites then you would know this but since you don’t the only logical conclusion as to where you got your misinformation is that you are a racist who only uses racist sources of information.

All of my assertions still stand, you are a liar and a racist so don’t try to deny it.

                    • GeorgeW148 September 23rd, 2014 at 08:40

Are you 9 years old? I have cited my source, and given legitimate reasons for my position…yet, you continue to act like a child and call names. The entire incident is highly debatable on both sides of the argument yet, you must be hateful without cause. Grow up junior. Now, all you have is the opinion of one person (Therstrom) who based her entire assessment on the fact that she didn’t find Adams believable. Read this:

Hans A. von Spakovsky stated that internal e-mails from the Department of Justice released under a Freedom of Information Act request show that political appointees were “intimately involved” in the decision to drop the case, including former deputy attorney general David Ogden, Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli and attorney general Eric Holder, and that Perez may have committed perjury by denying this in his testimony before the Civil Rights Commission.[11]

In October 2010, a draft report from the Civil Rights Commission was posted on the political website TPM Muckraker, (A liberal blog site) stating that political officials had been extensively involved in the decision to dismiss the case, and that the Department of Justice had attempted to conceal their involvement.[12] Civil Rights Commission chairman Gerald A. Reynolds confirmed that the draft was authentic, but said that it was not the most current version of the draft, and declined to immediately release the newest version or describe what revisions had been made to it.[13] The Justice Department denied the allegations in the report.[12]

In July 2012, Judge Reggie Walton dismissed the Justice Department’s denial, finding that political appointees did interfere with prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

For the record, Judge Reggie Walton is an African American. So, a liberal blog reports political appointees interfered with and thwarted the investigation, an African American Judge confirms it, but…..feel free to call me a racist and a liar again…..as if your opinion is swaying my own feeling of self-worth. I have made my case, stated my opinion and backed it up with researched unbiased documentation. I’m done with this….feel free to get the last word, but trust me…it don’t matter…..I take things from the source and brother…..you are not a source I will ever read again.

If you read anything beside white supremacists websites then you would know this but since you don’t the only logical conclusion as to where you got your misinformation is that you are a racist who only uses racist sources of information.

All of my assertions still stand, you are a liar and a racist so don’t try to deny it.

If I lived in that district, I would show up at the polling place wearing a t-shirt inscribed as follows, carrying my firearm in compliance with any and all applicable laws:

    ARMED LIBERAL DEMOCRAT

QUESTION MY RIGHT TO VOTE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

While I understand your frustration, may I remind you that we have police in this country who will shoot a man in the back for picking up a toy gun in a store yet do nothing to a white man making threatening remarks while brandishing a firearm in front of a school. Please, react effectively but safely.
