Another Republican Threatens Government Shutdown

Marco Rubio hinted at it, and now Iowa Congressman Steve King does more than hint. Since this worked out so well for Republicans last time, it surely makes sense they think it will work the next time.

King, R-Kiron, said “all bets are off” on a continuing resolution if President Barack Obama follows through with reported plans to deal with immigration issues without Congress.

“If the president wields his pen and commits that unconstitutional act to legalize millions, I think that becomes something that is nearly political nuclear …,” King said. “I think the public would be mobilized and galvanized and that changes the dynamic of any continuing resolution and how we might deal with that.”

King said if that happens, House-passed legislation on border security, including rolling back the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA order, “becomes a requirement” for a continuing resolution.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

This doesn’t surprise me that the wingers in congress would resort to this, and it’s over hate. On one hand, Obama keeps over-stepping his powers as with immigration reform, but on the other he isn’t doing enough with going after ISIS, even though Obama called on them to make a decision to approve on what action he should take.

“…Obama keeps over-stepping his powers as with immigration reform, but on the other he isn’t doing enough with going after ISIS..” No, he’s well within his authority on immigration issues, as the agencies are under executive branch and Cabinet. He is doing the smart things with ISIS and not taking the bait that the neo-cons jump at in wanting more war. An unwinnable one,as we have already seen, with no clear military objective. He deserves credit for his ability to be an adult at a difficult juncture in world affairs.

I feel like America is part of some sick experiment. Its like the gop is seeing how much they can screw up and still have devoted rwnj’s vote for them.

Exactly! September, 2014 marks a New U.S. Record 55 months of consecutive private jobs growth = 12M+. Anything these economic illiterates can do to put the USA back into GWB’s Great Recession, they’ll do! https://www.flickr.com/photos/speakerpelosi/13630053153/in/photostream/

That is what the’re doing. That is what the Oligarchical puppet masters are calling for, in exchange for political contributions to their campaigns. Take it as far as you can and destabilize things so we can profit off the people with our vast fortunes of capital. The Oligarchy wins when things are destabilized and fluctuating. That is why they have been meddling in the Ukraine. They are playing America and Europe against Russia, looking to create instability in the world. It is great for arms sales.

This is entirely on the extreme right wing fringe idiots that low info voters elected. None of the business groups want this. They understand how much this hurts our economy even to bring this up. The fringe is all on their own with this nonsense.

These Greedy Oligarch racist Party stooges are so functionally illiterate they don’t even know the Government is not in danger of running out of money. Obstructionism = ‘my voters are so stupid they don’t know repubs offer 00.00% because they’re economically illiterate too!”

Repubs unilateral obstructionism = ‘my voters are so stupid they don’t know repubs offer nothing but ‘tax cuts for billionaires’ because they’re economically illiterate too!’

G.W. “Bush Worst on jobs in U.S. History”!-WSJ 1/09/09 Leave no billionaire behind delivered 1.08 M total private jobs created during all 8 years of GWB’s record low everything, since (R) Hoover’s Great Depression. 2nd worst on jobs in U.S. history is G.H.W. Bush Sr’s 2.5 M/4 year jobs total proving cons are clueless, and insanely jealous of Obama’s 54 months of 11 M+ private jobs growth that ties Bill Clinton’s U.S. Record jobs growth period!

At some point, children need to learn their lessons and adults must step aside. Had Obama done this during the first threat, we might not have to be listening to these idiots now. Let them shut down the government, again, and make them pay for it all during the campaign season.
