No more Mr. Nice Guy for Vladimir Putin. From now on, Muscovites will have to get by on kasha, kalduny and borscht instead of Big Macs and fries.

Russia’s consumer watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, has shut down all four Moscow McDonald’s, including the restaurant at Pushkinskaya Square which, at one time, was the largest McDonald’s in the world. Rospotrebnadzor blamed the shutdowns on “multiple violations of sanitary norms . . . detected in the sourcing of food and waste disposal in McDonald’s restaurants during inspections carried out between the 18th and 20th of August.” The agency said the other 430 McDonald’s franchises in Russia are under investigation.

Russia Today reports that the closings are “a shot across the bow . . . amidst an escalation of sanctions between Moscow and the West.

It’s going to get very interesting when these restrictions really set in. The Russian people’s desire for Blue Jeans and MickeyDs won the last time around; I wonder why Vladdie thinks he can beat them this time?

A win-win, Vlad shoots himself in the foot making himself less popular and the people of Moscow have something of low nutritional value taken from them.

Well–Rotten Ronnie is being booted from Moscow, hmmm?
And knowing “how things work” in Russia, the other franchises are about to join their Muscovite brothers into PNG exile in due time.

Well, ain’t that a shame…no more Big Macs and McRibs for the narodi, eh?
I normally detest folks like Putin…but here, he may be on to something.
Besides, kalduny (meat turnovers) are tastier, while kasha (a buckwheat porridge) is much healthier for you.

Four down, millions more to go!

For what it’s worth, my own tastes indicate that black coffee with no sugar at McDonalds is far better than the brew at Starbucks.

If alcohol consumption in Russia is what I hear it is, the loss of a good cup of morning coffee could be devastating.

Given your behavior as of late, Mr. Putin, what makes you think you deserve our cholesterol filled, fat laden junk food?
