Nice of us to leave this ‘stuff’ behind.

That was my thought, did we just leave it behind? Intentionally left or too costly to bring back? Were they supposed to be in the hands of the Iraq government and now spoils of war? Hell, I want more answers on why these were there to begin with.

more then likely we left them there for the Iraqi Army. just a SWAG

Lets see; 52 x $500,000 = how many meals for hungry children? or extended unemployment benefits? etc.

In addition to these very big guns and the Humvees I noticed they have also captured several rockets that look like Sadam’s trusty old Scuds… And even if they can’t use these weapons for lack of ammo or expertise, they might be able to sell or trade them. I am dumbfounded that we would leave so much fire-power behind. Another Obama Foreign Policy/Intel Fail.

Do you really think Obama made the decision to leave equipment behind? It happens in every war. In Vietnam we even left the very much alive K-9 “troops” behind. I guess that was Obama’s fault too. Oh, and let’s not forget that many teabaggers think Obama was responsible for Katrina.

      • greenfloyd July 16th, 2014 at 09:23

If it wasn’t Obama, then who did make that brilliant decision?

I served in Nam, but don’t recall hearing about leaving any of the K-9 corp behind? Of course it was total chaos at the end, so I guess it could have happened. Can you provide a link, please?

And while the TP claim about Katrina is obviously nuts… there are some of us calling the current US border refugee crisis “Obama’s Katrina.”

The primary failure was invading with those weapons in the first place.

      • greenfloyd July 16th, 2014 at 09:46

I totally agree. However that does not explain why Obama left them when he oversaw our exit.

One possible reason, it cost more to recover the Howitzers than to buy new ones from their US manufacturer.

Can’t say for certain but I think it’s likely this equipment and stuff even more sophisticated has been left as part of our plan to “train and equip” Iraqi forces. It used to be that the militants in that area had to scrounge Russian gear from Afghanistan and whatever they could buy on the weapons market. Now we’ve managed to seed the area with who knows what from the most technologically advanced military in the world. The huge mistake was thinking that stuff would stay in the hands of our “allies”. You’d think we’d know better by now.

Let’s hope they have hidden tracking devices on them.

It’s a good thing ISIL recently cut ties with Al-Qaeda because it’s hard to grab equipment that big when you are on the run.
