If You Know The Name Trayvon Martin, You Should Know The Name Jordan Davis

Michael Dunn, a white man,  is on trial in Florida for killing Jordan Davis, a black teen. Dunn’s defense is the “stand your ground law” which had nothing to do with what actually happened during this tragedy. Dunn was annoyed by a group of black teens playing music in the car next to him at a gas station. Dunn’s girlfriend, Rhonda Rouer, says Dunn complained, “I hate that thug music.”  Dunn fired six shots into the car with the teens, three of which hit Davis, who died from his wounds.

Dunn is currently on trial in Florida. Why isn’t this getting the attention given to George Zimmerman’s killing of Trayvon Martin? The Stand Your Ground law, written by the gun lobby, is being invoked. In the Zimmerman case, the defense didn’t claim stand your ground, but the judge instructed the jury to consider it.  In the Dunn case, he wasn’t be threatened. He was in no danger. He just didn’t like the “thug music” coming from a car with black teens inside.

Could it be that the conservative media was so burned by Zimmerman and  his ongoing love of fame that it doesn’t want to take a chance on this one? Or maybe it’s because the bigotry here is more blatant.
