CA-49: Darrell Issa Vulnerable To Defeat

The latest poll numbers should prove cause for concern for House Torquemada Inquisition Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa:

A poll commissioned by the left-leaning MoveOn.org contends that Vista GOP Rep. Darrell Issa could be vulnerable in 2014.

Public Policy Polling surveyed Issa’s 49th Congressional District encompassing coastal North County and southern Orange County during the 16-day partial government shutdown.

The automated poll conducted Oct. 15-16 surveyed 650 voters found that 49 percent disapproved of the job Issa is doing compared with 43 percent who approved and 9 percent who were uncertain.

When asked if the election were held today, 48 percent of the respondents said they would support a generic Democratic opponent compared with 47 percent who would support Issa.

Fifty-three percent of respondents said they had an unfavorable view of the tea party compared with 39 percent who held a favorable view.

An overwhelming 62 percent said they opposed shutting down government operations as a way to stop the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, from taking effect compared with just 32 percent who supported the strategy that touched off the partial shutdown.

Move.On spokesman Nick Berning said the poll has a plus or minus margin of error of 3.8 percent.

Issa’s team dismissed the poll, criticizing the source and the methodology.

That’s right, Darrell – dismiss it all you want and believe in the same “unskewed polls” methodology that worked so well for Willard Mitt “We’ll Win in a Blowout” Romney. Grab the popcorn and stay tuned…
