Santorum Claims Backroom Romney Deal For Michigan

Mitt Romney was awarded two more delegates than Rick Santorum to win the Michigan primary.

The Associated Press reported today that the credentials committee changed the party rules to give the two delegates to Romney, instead of dividing them proportionally, which would have resulted in a 15-15 tie with Rick Santorum.

Saul Anuzis, the Michigan Republican National Committeeman, denied that the rule was changed, saying the party always intended for the winner of the most votes in the state to receive both at-large delegates.

Santorum’s campaign says:

“…we never thought the Romney campaign would try to rig the outcome of an election by changing the rules after the vote. This kind of back room dealing political thuggery just cannot and should not happen in America.”
