U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders argued for his amendment on Thursday which would bring greater transparency to the Fed.  From the Senate floor, Sanders called out numerous potentially dubious practices by the Fed, and presented his five-page amendment which would require greater transparency at the Federal Reserve.

In calling for greater transparency at the Federal Reserve, Sanders says it’s taxpayer money, not the Fed’s, WCAX reported. “All we want to know is who got trillions of dollars…on what basis, on what terms? Who was at the meetings where key decisions were made?”

More than 50 senators are on record previously supporting a Fed audit, but knees are starting to weaken. Sens. Burr, Chambliss, McCaskill and Murray, previous supporters, now say they’re on the fence. Senate Majority Leader Reid sidestepped a question about how he will vote, saying that he is a longtime critic of the Fed but hasn’t studied Sanders’ language, Huffington Post reported.
